Daniel Waldheim

Daniel Waldheim received his B.S. in Psychology from Regent University and is currently a second year doctoral student in clinical psychology at Regent University. He serves as the Seminar Coordinator for the Abundant Life Flourishing Team. His independent study in undergrad with Dr. Eric Jones about the primacy and importance of relationships to personhood galvanized his interest in human flourishing, marriage and family therapy, and clinical psychology at large. Daniel’s professional goals include being a professor, researcher, writer, and business consultant, as well as doing clinical work with couples and families, children, and pastoral burnout.

Daniel is passionate about human flourishing because it requires interdisciplinary thinking from psychology, theology, and philosophy to ground an understanding of God’s very good design (Genesis 1:31) that informs how flourishing is conceptualized to live out the abundant life in Christ (John 10:10), not solely remediate deficits or pathologies. His previous research includes examining the effects of individualism on evangelical marriages, factors predicting couple satisfaction, and the experience of receiving acts of kindness. He is fascinated by the psychology of gratitude, joy, grace, awe, beauty, and forgiveness, and desires to work on emic, Christian psychological understandings of phenomena, such as the current research that the Abundant Life team is developing on Attachment to the Holy Spirit.

Outside of his professional work, Daniel thoroughly enjoys running, hiking, and outdoor adventures, as well as spending time and having meaningful conversations with friends and family.
